Articles, editions and translations prepared in accordance with Terminus' editorial standards (see Instructions for Authors - Terminus) and sent to the Assistant Editor undergo a two-stage evaluation process. First, the Editorial Board decides whether to accept a text for review (assessment of compliance with the journal's profile and preliminary substantive examination). After a positive opinion, the board informs the author that the text has been accepted and sent to external reviewers (the review process is specified in the Publication ethics and publication malpractice statement - Terminus). In order to ensure the highest possible standard of published papers and objectivity, the Editorial Board endeavours to send articles to foreign reviewers (if language and subject matter considerations allow).
The author receives reviews after one to two months of waiting. In the case of positive reviews, the author is required to make the suggested changes within two to four weeks. Negative reviews result in the article being rejected, without the option of resubmitting a revised text.
Having obtained the confirmation of his/her text acceptance, the Author receives the Publishing Contract and two statements from the editor responsible for the issue (Statement Form and Information clause Contracts & Forms - Terminus). Immediate return of signed contracts is a condition for accepting the notebook for production. During the production process, the Author is asked to authorise their text twice – after the editor reading (in Word format) and after proofreading (in PDF format) – and is required to review the text and respond to the editor's questions as soon as possible. The finished issue is first published on the website (the electronic publication is the original version) and then printed. The author receives two copies of the issue sent to the address provided.
The average period of waiting from the moment of submitting an article to its electronic publication is 6 months. Some fluctuations may be related to the classification of the article into a monographic issue or its placement in a multi-topic issue (miscellanea). Typically, we publish two multi-topic issues and two monographic issues annually.
