The Studia Linguistica Universitatis Iagellonicae Cracoviensis Editorial Team, committed to upholding high standards of publication quality as well as the integrity, credibility, and transparency of scientific publications, fully endorses the position and recommendations issued by the Committee on Publication Ethics and the Association of Higher Education Publishers regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) tools in scholarly writing.
In accordance with these recommendations, the Studia Linguistica Universitatis Iagellonicae Cracoviensis journal hereby adopts and applies the following principles:
- Authorship: Only a human may be recognized as the author of scientific texts. AI/GAI tools cannot be acknowledged as an author or co-author.
- Transparency: Any author using Artificial Intelligence AI or GAI tools must clearly and transparently indicate how these technologies were used.
- Reproducibility: Any research involving AI/GAI tools should meet the principle of reproducibility of scientific research. For this purpose, we recommend specifying the prompts used in the work.
- Responsibility: Authors bear full responsibility for any generated content included in the scientific work.
- Ethics: When using AI/GAI tools, authors should adhere to ethical principles of scholarly publishing, in particular the guidelines set out in the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing and Guidance (COPE).
- Scope of use: AI/GAI should be treated solely as tools supporting scientific work in justified cases. They should not replace the author’s intellectual contribution.
- Respect for copyright: Authors are recommended to ensure that the AI/GAI tools they use rely on lawful sources and do not infringe copyright.
- Reliability: Authors are strongly advised to ensure that generated content/data are accurate, reliable, and presented in accordance with principles of scientific integrity.
- Visibility: Elements or parts of the publication in which AI/GAI has been used should be clearly indicated, specifying the scope, methods, and purpose of such use.
