The researched group consisted of 291 adolescent subjects, including 186 with physical disability and 105 non-impaired. The survey was conducted in special education centers for children and adolescents with motor impairments in Poland. The Orientation to Life Questionnaire (SOC-13, Antonovsky, 1995/2005), Health Behavior Questionnaire (Jessor et al., 1989) and a questionnaire concerning various aspects of disability were applied. The results show that the global level of SOC is identical in both groups, but adolescents with motor impairments have a higher level of meaningfulness than their peers. Students with a physical disability with a higher global level of SOC and a higher level of comprehensibility and manageability have more positive beliefs about their school. The  results also show a significant negative relationship between SOC and the intensity of drinking alcohol in girls with motor impairment. The results support the hypothesis that the peer group can be one of the important factors contributing to the SOC in adolescents with motor impairments.
