[forthcoming]). Five phenomena are presented in the context of the general Turkic phonetic evolution. These are: [a] palatalization of (-)kE- > (-)čE-; [b] varying anlaut nasality: m- > b- and b- > m-; [c] despirantization of f > p; [d] epenthetic n; [e] shortening of geminates.
