In the 1670s Baltazar Wilga served as a towarzysz (knight bachelor) of the cavalry, and in the years 1683–1708 he was a rotmistrz (captain), colonel and regimentary. From 1692 to 1699 he was the last royal commissioner to supervise the Cossack communities in the Kyivan Polesie.
