abstract = {The article presents proposals for actions aimed at shaping the desired perception of surveillance by Polish citizens. It addresses the following issues: the terminology of operational control and the public perception of specific concepts covering surveillance issues, the impact of trust in the special services and the institutions supervising them on the public’s approach to the issue of surveillance, and the level of the public awareness of security. The article cites the results of a survey conducted by the author in 2023 and an analysis of material on surveillance and its public perception. Based on these, solutions are proposed to raise public awareness of the need for specific security activities.},
